Fairfax dwellers may have noticed that Mauro’s Pizza & Pasta at 1601 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. was closed recently, but they are gearing for a grand reopening this week. According to their website, you’ll be able to order the shop’s hand-crafted pizza and pasta dishes again starting April 19.

Owner John Sarran tells What Now San Francisco that they were closed briefly for transfer of ownership, as evidenced by a pending beer and wine license found in state public records. Under the new ownership, Mauro’s will undergo some minor interior cosmetic upgrades and menu changes.

With his background in fine dining, Sarran will use higher quality ingredients and preparation methods to elevate the pizzas and pasta dishes that Fairfax knows best. That said, Sarran intends to “offer excellent quality at a price that doesn’t dip into the family vacation fund.”

Expect pasta dishes such as Pomodoro, Bolognaise, Carbonara, and others made with your choice of spaghetti, gigli, rigatoni, bucatini, or fettuccine. You can still order one of 11 pizzas such as Ducati (spicy capicola, pepperoni, spicy Italian sausage, red onion, garlic, mozzarella, tomato sauce) or Blasfemia (ham, pineapple, tomato sauce) with jalapenos.
