According to a recently submitted business license application, a new eatery called The Walnut Tavern is coming to Berkeley.

Taking over a 1,800-square-foot space at 1508 Walnut Street, upon opening, the restaurant will neighbor establishments such as FAVA, Love at First Bite Bakery, and Peet’s Coffee.

What Now San Francisco reached out to Owner Mahashush Gauchan to inquire about The Walnut Tavern, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, the filing offers a brief introduction to the concept.

A full-service restaurant and bar, Gauchan writes that The Walnut Tavern will dish out “high-quality” California cuisine made by a “highly experienced team” and serve as “a nice gathering place for the locals.”

He adds, “We hope to provide a great experience for the neighborhood through our food and beverage list and great service.”

An opening date has not yet been announced, so stay tuned for further updates.
