According to a recently submitted alcohol license application, Oakland’s Enssaro Ethiopian Restaurant is preparing to open at a new address in the city.
Coming to 5897 College Avenue, the eatery will land near establishments such as the vegan restaurant Millennium, Ramen Shop, and Zachary’s Chicago Pizza.
What Now San Francisco spoke briefly with the concept’s manager, Zenebech Kibret. While she was able to confirm that a new location is opening, she could not provide additional information before publication.
Nevertheless, according to the restaurant’s website, the menu features Ethiopian cuisine. Popular fare from the country includes dishes such as doro wot — a chicken stew spiced with berbere, which is a blend of cardamom, chili peppers, coriander, fenugreek, garlic, and ginger — and tibs, or stir-fried beef, lamb, or goat, sauteed with onions, peppers, and other spices.
Per the filing, a selection of beer and wine will also be offered.
Enssaro Ethiopian Restaurant presently operates at 357-A Grand Avenue. Whether the license application reflects plans to relocate or to expand is not clear.
An opening date has not been announced yet. Follow What Now San Francisco on Facebook for updates on this story.
