According to a recently submitted permit application, a new concept, Layers Juice Bar, is debuting in Berkeley.

Coming to Beverly Cleary Hall at 2436 Channing Way, the eatery will land near establishments such as the sandwich shops Mezzo and Sourdough & Co. as well as 1951 Coffee Company.

What Now San Francisco spoke briefly with the owner of Layers, Sirabhop Sakulkerewatana, who promised to share more information about the juice bar closer to its opening date sometime next year.

Nevertheless, the filing offers a brief description: “Our business will operate as a juice bar, offering freshly made juices, smoothies, and other health-oriented beverages… The store will prepare drinks on-site using fresh fruits and vegetables, with minimal food preparation.”

“The 500-square-foot space will focus on take-out service with limited indoor seating… No extensive cooking will be involved, and the setup includes juicing equipment, refrigeration, and basic food-handling facilities,” the statement continues.

An opening date has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for updates.
