Jazzy Grounds Coffee Bar is opening at 8209 International Boulevard in the Woodland neighborhood of Oakland. After five years of planning, a series of pop-up events, and two years in waiting due to the pandemic, owner Alison Fleming-McElroy is finally ready to open Jazzy Grounds towards the end of November.

Fleming-McElroy says that Jazzy Grounds will be where the old and new come together in a relaxed, yet upbeat urban cafe for all ages. So long as you’re young at heart this will be a space filled with jazz music, from classics like Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, to the more modern R&B-influenced jazz that we hear today.

Jazzy Grounds Coffee Bar will feature a full espresso menu with beans sourced from local roasteries, as well as a selection of teas and smoothies. There will also be pastries, sandwiches, and salads from local vendors if you’re also looking for something to munch on.

Fleming-McElroy has lived in the Bay Area for 25 years. Originally from Alabama, her business is rooted in the unmistakable Southern Hospitality that she grew up with. In addition to sharing her love for all things jazz, Fleming-McElroy intends to offer coffee education for budding enthusiasts and experts alike, hosting tastings and classes where guests can learn more about the coffee and music that brings them together.
