A restaurant called Members Only is planned to take over The Saratoga at 1000 Larkin St. in Lower Nob Hill, according to a pending liquor license found in state public records. The project comes from Phil Chen, who owns and operates Alchemist Bar & Lounge in SOMA.

In a phone call with What Now San Francisco today, Chen confirmed that Members Only is his next project, adding that he hopes to debut this spring. He remained tight-lipped about any further details as a formal press release will be sent out in the coming months.

Chen debuted Alchemist Bar & Lounge in 2012 around the corner from AT&T Park. The whimsical steampunk hideaway has been well received over the past decade for their hand-crafted cocktails, offering a breath of fresh air in a neighborhood dominated by sports bars.

Following public mandates, Alchemist has been able to stay afloat over the past couple years. “We’re happy to be reviving the industry which has suffered many casualties from Covid,” Chen said of his next project. We’re sure Members Only is going to be the next best thing, if the success of Alchemist is any indication.
