South Korean bakery chain Paris Baguette first came to the US in 2005, laying down roots in Los Angeles in the hopes of becoming America’s go-to spot for pastries (think, Paris Baguette is to pastries as Starbucks is to coffee).

Over the last fifteen years, Paris Baguette has opened more than 85 locations throughout the US (which is still small beans compared to its 3,000-plus locations in South Korea), many of which are located inside of H Marts — the U.S.’s largest Asian supermarket.

And according to SF Weekly, the bakery will soon be up and running inside San Francisco’s very first H Mart, which opened on April 21st at 3995 Alemany Boulevard. While no opening date has been announced, the bakery’s track record of setting up outposts inside the popular Asian supermarket has us sniffing out those matcha cream croissants already.

Paris Baguette may not have hit Starbucks-level popularity in the US yet, but its pastries’ unique blend of Korean and French ingredients (i.e. their sweet rice donut or whole red bean bread) speaks for itself. And for those Americans who need to approach the bakery’s patisserie twists with training wheels, they’ve got a hot dog pastry with your name on it.
