Pineapple King, a Bay Area hotspot for Hong Kong-style fresh baked goods, is planning to open a second location — bringing its famous pineapple buns to Fremont this fall.

What Now San Francisco contacted Co-Owner Jennifer Leung to inquire about the upcoming outpost, but she could not provide further information before publication.

Nevertheless, recent reportage by Eater shares that the bakery plans to offer the same selection of pastries available at its flagship spot on Irving Street — think egg tarts, moon cakes, creme brulee pudding-filled baguettes, and, its most popular offering, pineapple buns.

Traditionally made by topping a warm bread roll with a custard containing egg, flour, and sugar, Pineapple King adds its spin to the pineapple bun recipe, offering versions with fillings such as chocolate marshmallow butter, matcha mochi, and guava butter.

“Like the Outer Sunset original, the Fremont Pineapple King will also be a small, takeout-only operation,” the article shares.

For readers who are unfamiliar with Pineapple King, the operation was founded in 2015 by sisters Jennifer and Stephanie Leung, as well as their uncle Guo Chi Ng. Aiming to serve a wider Bay Area community, and responding to direct requests to expand to the East Bay, they have spent the last year scoping out properties in Fremont.

Coming to 46827 Warm Springs Boulevard, the bakery will land near establishments such as Boiling Point, Karikku Cafe, and Poke House.
