San Francisco Deli to Close its Redding Restaurant in June
After serving the Redding locals for almost 50 years at 2395 Athens Ave., San Francisco Deli will shutter its restaurant. In an emotional Facebook post, the family-run restaurant announced that it will serve its delicacies for one last time on June 13.
“This decision has not come easily. Our family has laughed, cried, argued, and bonded over this business for generations.”
San Francisco Deli cited increasing costs and staffing issues. This is particularly due to the economic downturn across the country. The restaurant stated that, based on these reasons, it was getting difficult to uphold consistency and quality at the Redding facility.
The post read, “We believe in prioritizing quality and consistency, and unfortunately, this environment no longer allows us to provide the experience our community deserves.”
Catering and Fire Support Services to Continue
In its Facebook post, San Francisco Deli shared some positive news for its loyal customers as well. The Redding-based restaurant stated that its catering services will continue in the city. It will offer sandwich trays for events, business luncheons, etc.
San Francisco Deli will bring a refreshed catering menu and website to provide Redding locals with enhanced catering services.
Apart from this, the food facility will continue other businesses. Ahead of the upcoming fire season, the food establishment will continue its fire support business.
Legacy Restaurant by the Luntey Family
The family-run Redding restaurant started its food offerings in 1977. The popular eating establishment has been run by three generations of Lunteys. Jack and Brenda Luntey have been the owners since the early 90s.
The menu highlights at San Francisco Deli include baked ham and capicola sandwiches. Other items are wood-fired BBQ, clam chowder soups, and tuna salads. The food establishment also offers chocolate chip cookies and killer brownie cookies.
Future Aspirations to Bring a Food Truck Business
In the Facebook post, San Francisco Deli hinted at its aspirations of bringing a food truck venture in the future. This demonstrates that while the restaurant’s journey comes to an end, food operations will continue for it.
