Ramen 101, the bold new ramen concept that fuses traditional Japanese ramen with Hawaiian BBQ, will be adding yet another notch to its already substantial belt.
When owner Xiang Qiu Lin first started Ramen 101 in 2017 in San Leandro, nobody would have imagined that he would already have 10 locations only four years later. Now though, it’s easy to see why so many people have been flocking to Ramen 101 to get a taste of their unique Japanese-Hawaiian fusion. Serving dishes like tonkotsu ramen and Hawaiian macaroni salad with BBQ chicken, Ramen 101 promises to offer everyone something they’ll enjoy no matter their taste.
Lin, whose friends call him “Benny”, also owns two restaurants in addition to Ramen 101, Hawaiian Grill Express and 88 Bao Bao, both of which are still open and ready for business.
Benny had been dreaming of creating a successful business for decades before he founded Ramen 101. Beginning as a dishwasher nearly 25 years ago, he quickly worked his way to the top, eventually training privately with an elite Japanese chef. Now, the fruits of his labor have been made clear as his young restaurant prepares to open its 11th location.
The newest Ramen 101 will be opening in 4241 Century Blvd in Pittsburg, in the Century Plaza Shopping Center. The new location is flanked on both sides by two other Ramen 101 locations in Antioch and Concord, each about 10 miles away. The Pittsburg location will feature over 1225 square feet of space and will be serving the same Hawaiian-Japanese fusion that patrons have come to love so much.
Benny was able to confirm with What Now San Francisco that he intends to open his Pittsburg location later in September. While you wait, consider trying out their takoyaki at one of their 10 Bay Area locations.
