Rare Blend Cafe in Uptown Oakland is a great space with delicious coffee, friendly staff, and good vibes. After opening earlier this year, it’s obvious that they have a good thing going so far, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room to shake things up a bit.

“We are brewing something special for the ‘Perfect way to start and end your day!’ Oakland’s hottest new coffee shop with a twist or should I say a Rare Blend!!!” reads a post on their Instagram page late last week. Cryptically adding “We’re Not Done!!!” and “Stay tuned!” to the post, Rare Blend suggests that they have more to offer other than their coffee beverages.

Meanwhile, What Now San Francisco has obtained a pending beer and wine license attached to Rare Blend co-owner Marin Ying, but under a different business name of “Sandy Toes Cafe.” It’s easy to put together that Rare Blend may be serving up something alcoholic in their near future. Perhaps a wine bar?

When contacted via phone call this week, Ying said that they would open this new project in a “few months,” but was unable to give further comment at the time. We’re sure that Rare Blend is busy getting everything prepared for this new addition to the cafe and will make a formal announcement soon enough. Stay tuned.
