According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the team behind the two-Michelin-starred eatery Lazy Bear plans to debut a new concept in San Francisco’s Design District.

Coming to a 6,000-square-foot spot at 1 Henry Adams Street — an address formerly home to Grove — the French cuisine restaurant JouJou will soon be neighbor to establishments such as Dumpling Time, Niku Steakhouse, and Saap Ver Damn Good! Thai.

What Now San Francisco reached out to the concept’s owner, David Barzelay, and Colleen Booth, its Managing Partner and COO, to learn more about their plans for JouJou; however, they could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, the Journal reports that JouJou will serve “primarily French cuisine with a focus on seafood.” On the menu, locals can expect to find offerings such as “over-the-top seafood towers, fish filleted tableside, and omelets crowned with caviar” — as well as dishes like “local king salmon almondine topped with dill beurre blanc, shrimp bisque, steak frites, and duck à l’orange.” Dessert options will include bananas foster, ice creams served with a splash of liqueur, and canelés.

“We’re not going for esoteric, boundary-pushing cuisine,” Barzelay tells the Chronicle. He adds, “We’re not daring you to like anything. We’re not trying to give you new and strange flavors that you’ve never had before.”

For readers who are unfamiliar with Lazy Bear, the restaurant was founded in 2009 in San Francisco when Barzelay began holding dinner parties at his residence. In 2014, he opened a brick-and-mortar spot in the Mission District and soon after began collecting Michelin stars.
