Rize Up Bakery began as a “home-based quarantine sourdough project that quickly turned into a micro-bakery,” according to the official company website. Now, the “San Francisco-based, black-owned bakery” is moving into its first brick-and-mortar location with its own dedicated baking facility.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Rize Up is moving into a new 5,000-square-foot location at 1160 Howard Street in South of Market. Owner Azikiwee “Z” Anderson shares that construction is underway and that at the SoMa location he intends to begin selling products in person. An opening date has not yet been announced.

Currently, Rize Up is selling sourdough and ube pan loaf—among other types of bread—to customers at pop-ups and farmers’ markets, as well as delivering throughout San Francisco. The baked goods can also be found at Berkeley Bowl, Bi-Rite, Luke’s Local, Nader’s, and Rainbow Grocery.

What Now San Francisco was unable to contact a company representative by the time of publication.
