Roasted and Raw is coming to 1389 Jefferson St. in Oakland, where a 2,505 square-foot restaurant space is currently being built out according to recent real estate intel. The Black-owned plant-based restaurant started out as a pop-up in Jack London Square, gaining word-of-mouth notoriety throughout the Bay Area for serving flavorful vegan fare enjoyed by both vegans and non-vegans alike.

While SF Chronicle initially reported that Roasted and Raw will open by the end of January, chef and owner Imani Greer tells What Now San Francisco that the opening is now scheduled for mid-March. “We’re excited to be in the Bay and will be a premiere healthy restaurant in Oakland,” he says, adding that 70-percent of his clientele are non-vegan, including himself.

While his menu is plant-based, Greer doesn’t intend Roasted and Raw to be a restaurant solely for vegans or vegetarians. He started the concept out of a desire to live a healthier lifestyle through eating a mostly plant-based diet.

Some of his most popular menu items are the Walnut Chorizo and the Smoky Black Bean Burger. In addition to the pop-up menu favorites, including the build-your-own bowl option, Roasted and Raw will have pastas, breads, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches to go.

Greer has also partnered with Pure Juice & Smoothie Lounge, a plant-based juice and smoothie shop based in Union City, which will be on the menu at Roasted and Raw. Until their debut, follow @roastedandraw.co on Instagram to get updates on the restaurant’s progress.
