Sai’s Vietnamese is leaving its longtime home at 505 Washington Street and heading to 42 Columbus Avenue — taking over a space previously home to Bask, near Columbus Burgers, Trestle, and Roka Akor.
What Now San Francisco briefly spoke to the owner of Sai’s, Charles Vong, but he was unable to provide additional information before the time of publication.
According to a report by SF Eater, the property owner — the development group Shvo — issued Sai’s with a notice to vacate last year. However, as a result of Supervisor Aaron Peskin’s mediation between the restaurant and the developer, Shvo was able to provide financial aid to Vong for the purchase of the new Columbus Avenue property and forgave a year’s worth of rent.
For readers who are unfamiliar with Sai’s, the eatery gained Legacy Business status back in 2021 and is known for Vietnamese dishes such as chicken pho, sauteed curry chicken, and lemongrass beef vermicelli.
Sai’s is slated to open late this summer. In the meantime, follow the eatery on Facebook.
