San Francisco’s Whitechapel — a “gin-focused cocktail lounge with globally inspired eats in expansive, ornate, Victorian-themed digs” located at 600 Polk Street — disappointed locals when it announced its closure early last year.

According to Eater, a reopening is right around the corner.

“A spokesperson for Brick by Brick Hospitality, which owns the bar, writes that Whitechapel is hosting group events for the next few months and will ‘eventually reopen with a new version of Whitechapel’…” Eater shares.

What Now San Francisco could not reach a Whitechapel representative before the time of publication, and an anticipated opening date has not been announced, so stay tuned for updates.

For readers who are unfamiliar with Whitechapel, before closing, the drinkery offered a thoughtful menu of classic gin cocktails, creative cocktails, beer, and wine.

The bar was known for its interior, boasting “ornate etched mirrors, gilded light fixtures, shiny glass beads” and “red velvet banquettes for seating,” that came together to create a warm and charming space.
