Seven Fishes has its sights set on 557 Valencia St. in the Mission District, according to a pending ABC license filed late last month. They will be taking up the Locanda restaurant space that is now closed. Seven Fishes originally opened in North Beach as a fish market and seafood restaurant in 2015, so it’s possible that 557 Valencia St. will be their second location.

The timing of the ABC license suggests that Seven Fishes will open early in 2022, if not by the end of this year. Seven Fishes is owned by Joe and Andi Conte, who also own Water2Table and have years of experience delivering fresh, local seafood to restaurants throughout San Francisco. The Contes could not yet be reached for comment.

Seven Fishes serves sandwiches, salads, and pizzas on their restaurant side, while the market aspect is dedicated to selling fresh fish, prepared sides, and wines. The name is a nod to Joe’s Italian-American heritage, wherein serving the feast of seven fishes is an Italian tradition on Christmas Eve.
