Skekoh Confections is opening its first brick-and-mortar at 2305 El Camino Real in Palo Alto. The woman-owned and operated artisanal chocolatier is taking over Suite B, which used to be Poki Bowl in Evergreen Park. Founder and Creative Director Shekoh Moossavi confirmed that while she’d like to open the shop in time for the holidays, it’s looking more likely that her shop will be ready to go in early 2022.

Moossavi recently signed a lease for the 1,358 square-foot space, which is already outfitted with a kitchen. While no build-out is needed, the shop is due for some major cosmetic changes and equipment upgrades.

Currently, Shekoh Confections operates out of San Francisco, selling a made-to-order selection of fine chocolates, marshmallows, and nougats. The chocolate bonbons are coated in vibrant colors and made with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible to support Moossavi’s farm-to-table principles.

While Moossavi says the menu and other plans for the Shekoh Confections storefront are still under wraps, customers can sample her delectable candies by ordering online. Some of the most popular flavors are The Persian Rose, Bergamont Black Tea, Orange Blossom Water, and Le Noir.

Early in her culinary career, Moossavi opened Gervais in Saratoga, before opening Pastry Smart in San Mateo. Combining her traditional culinary skills with her passion for candy-making, she then opened Shokolaat in Palo Alto before moving to France in 2012. There, she studied at Valrhona in Tain-l’Hermitage to refine her craft. Eventually, she moved back to the Bay Area and founded Shekoh Confections in 2018.
