A new cafe and restaurant called Zevi is under construction at 67 5th St., the site of the former Cafe Venue at Pickwick Hotel. Zevi is a new concept from Kazim Altan, who owns the neighboring establishment, Soma Restaurant & Bar.
Speaking with What Now San Francisco, Altan says that Zevi will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast and lunch menu will feature gourmet versions of classic American fare, such as salads and sandwiches. For dinner, there will be dishes featuring Mediterranean-style rotisserie and gyro.
Altan adds that he plans to open Zevi by the end of April. According to a building permit found in city public records, construction entails significant tenant improvements, including the replacement of a 16-foot hood, plus installation of new counters, shelves, and a handicap accessible bathroom.
A website and social media accounts are currently in the works for Zevi. Until its opening, keep an eye on the corner of 5th and Jessie to see how the new restaurant is coming along.
