According to a recently published permit application, the international coffee giant Starbucks is planning to remodel its location at 8450 Edgewater Drive D in Oakland.

What Now San Francisco reached out to Polly Guy, the Regional Director of Operations, to find out details about this remodeling and how the coming changes will affect the customer experience, but she was not immediately available for comment.

Fortunately, the permit application provides some insights into Starbucks’s plans — intended improvements include “updates to the beverage prep area, new casework, and new finishes and beverage prep equipment,” and the file estimates that the job will cost around $185,000. In short, customers can expect a slicker store and beverages prepared with updated equipment.

The location is typically open every day from 5 am to 8 pm, however, how long the improvements will take, and how business will be affected throughout the construction, is still unclear. What Now San Francisco will update this story as soon as more information is gathered.
