Napa Valley is about to experience a culinary journey as Stateline Road Smokehouse prepares to open a temporary “restaurant residency” at Oxbow Public Market. The residency is set to launch on Thursday, October 26, and will run at least to the end of the year, with operating hours Thursday through Sunday, from 12 p.m. until sold out. This new venture will provide a preview of the Kansas City-inspired barbecue and culinary innovation that awaits patrons at

Bell is the executive chef and co-founder, a Kansas City native who’s worked in some of the top Michelin restaurants in the country and is now ready to showcase his culinary roots in barbeque, with some unique twists added to the menu.

“Napa has a vibrant food culture, and we’re eager to share our passion for Kansas City-inspired barbecue with the community as we put the finishing touches on our permanent home,” said Bell in a statement.

Food enthusiasts and visitors to Oxbow Public Market will savor an abbreviated version of the menu to come at Stateline Road Smokehouse. Look for Kansas City-Invented Burnt Ends ($18), Stateline Road Baby Back Ribs ($12), and a salad made with cherry wood smoked Maitake mushrooms, farm lettuce, crisped purple rice, marinated garbanzo beans, and a lemon vinaigrette ($15).

Bell first earned acclaim for his line of barbecue sauces, which are available on the Stateline Road website and in select stores. He began perfecting his original sauce while preparing “family meals” for the staff at Chef Thomas Keller’s Bouchon. Keller himself became a fan of Bell’s sauce, asking him to scale up the recipe so Keller could serve it on his Seabourn luxury cruise ship menus.

“We are thrilled to showcase a tease of our upcoming menu in a creative and food-focused atmosphere like Oxbow Public Market,” says Jeremy Threat, co-founder of Stateline Road Smokehouse and hospitality industry expert. “We have worked hard to build a strong following through catering events and appearances at the Napa Farmers Market. We look forward to growing our fan base further at the Oxbow Public Market.”
