According to a recent beer and wine license application, The Epicurean Trader — a specialty store and cafe that boasts a curated selection of artisanal products — is opening a new location at 2240 Market Street, near establishments like Canela Bistro & Wine Bar, Santeria, and TARA Indian Cuisine.

For those who are unfamiliar with the business, The Epicurean Trader’s shelves are lined with craft spirits, organic and natural wines, farmstead cheeses and charcuterie, small-batch chocolates, coffees, teas, and pantry items.

Additionally, it has in-store cafes in Cow Hollow, Hayes Valley, and at The Ferry Building — where baguettes, bagels and paninis, savory scones and muffins, Spanish cheese platters, and freshly baked empanadas make up the menu.

According to The Epicurean Trader’s website, each item and ingredient is hand-selected by co-owners Mat Pond and Holly McDell, who base their selections on factors like the producer’s dedication to their craft, the choice of flavors and fusions, the use of natural ingredients, and the charm of the packaging.

Pond and McDell add, “our mission is to support small-batch producers who produce their goods authentically using traditional techniques and craftsmanship.”

What Now San Francisco briefly spoke to Pond, but he was unable to provide additional information before the time of publication.

An opening date has not yet been announced, so stay tuned to The Epicurean Trader’s Facebook and Instagram for additional updates.
