A food hall backed by Ikea’s sister company that’s due to land in Downtown San Francisco, The Meeting Place, seems to have decided on its first batch of tenants.

“Within the last week, five local restaurant operators have filed business registrations at 945 Market Street,” The San Francisco Business Times reports — one of which is the Filipino-inspired comfort food concept The Sarap Shop.

What Now San Francisco contacted James Brillantes, The Sarap Shop’s co-owner and CEO, to inquire about the expansion, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the eatery, The Sarap Shop began as a food truck, dishing out Filipino-American comfort food such as vegan lumpia, sisig carbonara, and longanisa “dirty dogs” across the Bay Area. In 2022, after gaining popularity, Co-Owners Kristen Brillantes and JP Reyes debuted their first brick-and-mortar in the Chase Center as part of the Golden State Warriors Taste Makers program.

In addition to The Sarap Shop, the two-level, 23,000-square-foot food hall plans to feature Casa Borinqueña, Curry Up Now, La Venganza, and Momo Noodle — as well as three bars with local craft beer and wine.

The Sarap Shop at The Meeting Place is slated to open in early 2024.
