Toastique, a gourmet toast and juice bar concept founded in Washington, D.C., is getting ready to open in San Jose at 145 W. Santa Clara Street.
The company’s second Bay Area location is set to move into the former Starbucks in San Pedro Square, according to the Mercury News. While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, the franchise owners tell What Now San Francisco that they are targeting late 2025 or early 2026. Customers can expect Toastique’s signature menu of high-end toast creations, smoothies, fresh juices, and wellness-focused grab-and-go items.
The San Jose location will be owned and operated by Rafi Ibrahimi and his business partner, Mina Ibrahimi. It follows the November 2024 debut of Toastique in Danville, which drew long lines during opening week. According to Rafi, the San Jose location will be the first of several in the Peninsula and Silicon Valley region, with Palo Alto already in the pipeline and Burlingame or Campbell under consideration next.
Toastique was founded in 2018 by Brianna Keefe, who opened the first location while studying at James Madison University. That location generated over $1 million in its first year, prompting Keefe to launch a franchise model. Since then, Toastique has expanded to dozens of locations across 18 states and Washington, D.C., earning Keefe a spot on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list within four years.
Toastique’s menu includes items like the Avocado Smash, featuring avocado, marinated tomatoes, watermelon radish, and microgreens on rustic bread. Other offerings include smoked salmon and burrata toast, smoothie bowls, fresh-pressed juices, collagen lattes, and gluten-free options.
Rafi, who was born in San Francisco, says his wife Mina has always been passionate about healthy food and fresh juices. Together, they share a vision of making wholesome and healthy meals more accessible to everyone. They noticed that the Bay Area still needs more quick and easy places where people can enjoy food that nourishes the body and mind. “Toastique stood out to us for its quality, modern design, and variety,” he says. “We’re building off catering contracts in the area to bring fresh, healthy options to local businesses and inspire a community that values wellness.”
