Topogato, a San Francisco chocolatier known for their unique gourmet chocolates, has found a new permanent home, Eater SF reports. Owners Beau Monroe and Simon Brown have taken over a former Subway store at 701 Sutter St. that will serve as their main production facility for the time being.

There are still some cosmetics needed to make the space feel like Topogato’s new home, but Monroe and Brown have already began using it to continue creating their cocoa-forward delicacies. The space is currently not open to the public, but eventually the plan is to use the facility for pick-up orders and pop-up events. Monroe and Brown suggest that they also want to open a full retail location in the future

Monroe, a designer and art director, became friends with Brown, a seasoned pastry chef, in 2007 after meeting each other as neighbors. After losing their jobs in 2020, they teamed up and began making gourmet chocolate truffles and bars together at the back of the former Liholiho Yacht Club space.

The business has obviously taken off, propelling them to where they are today with their newly acquired production space. Topogato is known for their visually stunning chocolates, including a bright pink Smoked Tea Peach truffle and a Coconut Passionfruit chocolate bar that looks like a watercolor painting.

Topogato creates small-batch orders for individual chocolate lovers, weddings and special events. Additionally, they also do wholesale, currently working with local hotels and corporate gifting programs for tech companies in the area.

Until Topogato opens up their new Sutter Street space for pick-ups and pop-up events, you can order online for delivery at topogato.com.
