Reflecting the sadness that comes with the end of this journey, the owner also focuses on the journey ahead.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Mr. Digby’s Bar & Restaurant,” the post reads. “We poured our souls into creating a neighborhood hub that we’d love to hang out in, and although it didn’t quite work out, we’re incredibly proud of what we achieved.”

Creating this place during the pandemic is certainly commendable. The restaurant soon became popular for its welcoming warmth and dog-friendly, community-centered vibe. “We took a leap of faith opening during the pandemic, all while starting a family with two little ones,” the post continues.

The messages do not end there, as Mr. Digby’s entire family extends their thanks to the community. Recalling all the fun times that they have shared with the neighborhood, the post goes on to become sentimental. “We’re forever grateful to our amazing staff, loyal customers, and supportive neighbors who made it all possible.”

This neighborhood bar brought the community together during the time of isolation. It not only created warmth in this corner of SF, but also built unforgettable memories. The restaurant has, in its way, supported the community while receiving the same.

“Bringing a family-friendly neighborhood bar to our corner of San Francisco was truly a joy–from countless pounds of meatloaf and gallons of cocktails consumed, to drag brunches, night markets, and fun nights with friends, we loved every minute of it.”

Their journey continues in the neighborhood at their sister restaurant, NOVY. And so, the post ends with a wish to once again see the beloved customers.

Mr. Digby’s Bar & Restaurant has truly brought a great time to the neighborhood. What it has created is remarkable, and seeing this chapter close leaves many saddened. While the 1199 Church Street restaurant closes, the community knows where to relive their happy memories.
