The trailblazing cookie franchise Insomnia Cookies is planning for its first Berkeley outpost.

According to a recently filed construction permit application, the company intends to open at 2580 Bancroft Way on the ground floor of the apartment complex The Standard at Berkeley — near eateries such as Cafe Milano, Chengdu Style Restaurant, and Panda Express.

Described as “interior tenant improvement” of an existing space, the job is estimated to cost $293,802.

While little more has been disclosed concerning when the renovations will begin — or by when Berkeley residents should anticipate the shop be up and running — readers can expect the Insomnia Cookies outpost to serve fresh-baked cookies for both delivery and pick-up.

Additional items on the Insomnia Cookies menu include cookie cakes, brownies, and cookie & ice cream sandwiches — plus side orders of icing for those feeling especially indulgent — for both delivery and pick up.

According to frequent reportage over the last couple of years, this location marks the continuation of a Bay Area expansion that began back in 2020, when the chain opened its first Bay Area outpost at 362 Kearny Street in San Francisco’s Financial District.
