Winky Dinky Dogs, a casual restaurant specializing in high-quality hot dogs and community-focused dining, is preparing to open a new location in Oakland at 4521 Telegraph Ave.
The company’s second location will move into the former home of Kasper’s, which closed earlier this year, according to the San Francisco Business Times. Owner Tyranny Allen expects the location to open in December 2025. Customers can anticipate a menu featuring classic beef links, plant-based options, sides, and vibrant accompaniments, all served in a casual, welcoming environment designed to foster community connections.
Winky Dinky Dogs began as a single brick-and-mortar location, offering casual, comforting food that emphasized high-quality ingredients and bold flavors. The Oakland expansion represents the brand’s first step into a multi-location presence in the Bay Area and aligns with Allen’s broader goal of growing Winky Dinky Dogs into a household name.
The new location will continue the brand’s focus on accessible, flavorful hot dogs with options for a variety of dietary preferences. Catering and food service partnerships are also part of the expansion plan, allowing the restaurant to reach more customers beyond the physical space.
Allen describes the concept to the Business Times as aiming to be “the McDonald’s of soul food,” reflecting his ambition to scale the business while maintaining its community-oriented approach. The Telegraph Avenue site offers high visibility and a central location in Oakland’s bustling commercial district.
The restaurant’s casual, inviting atmosphere is designed to provide a space for friends, families, and food lovers to gather. With its focus on quality ingredients, approachable menu, and local engagement, Winky Dinky Dogs seeks to establish itself as a staple for both daily dining and special occasions in the Oakland community.
