Fairfield Mayor Catherine Moy shared a public statement confirming the closure of Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser Plant in the city. The brewery is preparing to close by early 2026, and according to the mayor, Anheuser-Busch plans to offer all employees roles at other facilities.
Budweiser Plant in Fairfield Set to Close Soon
Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser plant in Fairfield is closing down soon, according to Catherine Moy’s public statement on Facebook. In the post, Moy shared City Manager David Gassaway’s official letter announcing the facility’s closure. In the letter, he noted that the exact closing date has not yet been confirmed. However, all employees at the plant will be offered positions at other Anheuser-Busch facilities.
“Anheuser-Busch is closing its Fairfield brewery. The timing is unclear, other than early 2026, with no specific date details. All employees who work there will receive a job offer for other AB facilities around the country,” Gassaway stated. Gassaway noted that the closure will significantly affect local employment. He added that the closure will reduce local employment and affect water utility operations and revenue.
Statement from Fairfield Mayor
“Gassaway, our team, and I are immediately working to help those who lose their jobs,” Mayor Moy said in the post. In her post, the mayor said the Fairfield plant’s closure reflects a broader trend of major businesses leaving Solano County. She characterized California as ‘a hostile business environment’.
She concluded the post and said, “Now we must help our people and look closer at the impacts on Fairfield. I’ll keep you posted about details as we get them.”
The brewery has not issued any official announcement regarding the closure; all the quotes mentioned were personal comments by Fairfield Mayor Catherine Moy. Anheuser-Busch was founded in the 1870s, and in 1901, it became one of the largest breweries in the nation.
