The Meeting Place — a food hall backed by Ikea’s sister company, Ingka, coming to Downtown San Francisco — looks to have decided on its debut tenants.

“Within the last week, five local restaurant operators have filed business registrations at 945 Market Street,” The San Francisco Business Times reports — one of which is Oakland-born Casa Borinqueña.

For readers unfamiliar with Casa Borinqueña, the concept specializes in Puerto Rican cuisine made using only plant-based ingredients, including meat substitutes such as Impossible meat and OmniPork.

Its menu boasts pastelillos, stuffed deep-fried plantains, pastelón, and pastries such as mallorcas.

In addition to Casa Borinqueña, the two-level, 23,000-square-foot food hall plans to feature Curry Up Now, La Venganza, Momo Noodle, and The Sarap Shop — as well as three bars with local craft beer and wine.

Casa Borinqueña at The Meeting Place is slated to open in early 2024. Follow the eatery on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
