Better Buzz, a fast-growing coffee chain with locations throughout Southern California, appears to be developing a new site in Oceanside at 1004 Mission Ave.
The company’s newest location looks to be trying to open in the current home of El Pollo Loco, which has seen mediocre ratings in the past few years, according to Yelp. Better Buzz recently submitted documents to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality to open in this location, and the application is out to the applicant. A representative from the company tells What Now San Diego that the Better Buzz team does not have any details to share at this point.
Whether or not these plans come to fruition, this is a massive accomplishment for Better Buzz, which is already set to have a record-breaking year of opening in 2024. Since opening in 2007 in Pacific Beach, the company has expanded throughout San Diego County with new sites in La Mesa, Escondido, Bonita, Hillcrest, and more. The last What Now San Diego reported on Better Buzz’s expansion plans was when the company announced its plans to open a new location in Poway, replacing Chamoy Tacos Fruit in the Poway Crossings.
It’s unclear exactly when Better Buzz will open this new location in Oceanside. Despite it being early in the process, the company has had an incredible 2024. Earlier this year, Better Buzz announced that it had doubled its store count from 12 to 24 in just two years, and it plans to double again to 48 by year’s end. In the second half of the year, the company has seven official locations to have opened or are set to open by the year’s end, including Tempe, Henderson, Costa Mesa, Del Mar, Scottsdale, Fullerton, and North Las Vegas.
“While we’re thrilled with our progress so far, we’re even more excited about our rapid growth for the rest of the year,” VP of Marketing Amanda Cameron said in a press release earlier this year. “We’re planning to keep the momentum growing, spreading the buzz to even more neighborhoods. Our goal is to expand north in Southern California with major concentration on the Los Angeles area to San Diego, as well as growing in Arizona and Nevada to make our famous Best Drink Ever more accessible.”
