San Diego’s Michelin-starred, Bib Gourmand-honored gourmet taqueria chain, LOLA 55, has announced a new location at 2885 Perry Road in Point Loma.

The company’s third location is set to replace Go Go Amigo and El Jardin Cantina in Liberty Station, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. The new LOLA 55 will open in late 2025, offering tacos, agave-forward cocktails, and fine-casual Mexican foods. LOLA 55 sits at the intersection of fine dining and casual comfort with a distinctively bold brand of Mexican street food. This is a massive achievement for the company, which launched L55 Tacos & More last year at Westfield UTC.

After leaving his corporate career as a QSR executive, Tijuana-born founder Frank Vizcarra opened doors to LOLA 55’s flagship in 2018 with a core commitment to excellent quality, authentic flavors, and approachable price points. Located in the IDEA1 building in East Village, the high-low eatery has been a staple of downtown dining ever since, drawing crowds for its innovative taco-driven menu and agave-abundant beverage lineup. In September 2023, LOLA 55 entered the North County fold by opening a Carlsbad outpost located among best-in-class retail at The Beacon La Costa.

Offering lunch and dinner counter service, LOLA 55’s menu is a culmination of extensive research in culinary meccas like Mexico City and Oaxaca, starring inventive a la carte tacos like the achiote-rubbed pork belly with grilled pineapple and a vegan-friendly ‘squa-shroom’ taco with housemade beet soyrizo. A bar program developed by esteemed local barkeep Gareth Moore plays its part in pairing perfection with citrus-forward cocktails, Mexican-made beer, and an expansive list of tequila and mezcal spirits.
