A long-awaited dream is coming to life for both the owners and the community, as a new all-day breakfast spot prepares to open in Yelm.

Gritz N Gravy, run by Jamie and Trevor Metz, is set to open at 103 Yelm Ave. The pair bring 30 years of restaurant experience and are excited to launch a concept of their own, according to the restaurant’s website.

“This has been a dream of ours since before we got married in 2013. Our intention with this space is to provide a place for our friends, family, & neighbors to take a beat & escape the hustle & bustle of everyday human life,” the website reads.

True to its name, Gritz N Gravy will showcase a variety of grit-based dishes. Highlights include Shrimp N Gritz with five prawns, Oink N Gritz with pork belly and Veggie Gritz with fresh vegetables, all served with homemade grits, two eggs, brown butter and toast.

Other breakfast offerings include omelets, breakfast burritos and a short stack of pancakes.

Not in the mood for breakfast? Don’t worry. Gritz N Gravy also serves burgers, including the “Shelly’s Tornado Burger,” a smash burger topped with pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, crispy fried onions and ranch, and “The Cloganator,” breaded and deep-fried with grilled corned beef, bacon, egg, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion.

The menu also features paninis, sandwiches and salads to round out the offerings.

The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board recently approved Gritz N Gravy for a liquor license, according to business filings.

The restaurant plans to open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., serving breakfast all day and lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visit the Gritz N Gravy website for updates on the official grand opening.
