A popular restaurant is making a comeback in Tacoma this fall.

Cheers Bar and Grill, owned by Ali Mehdizadehkashi, will open in the former U.S. Bank building at 2317 Pacific Ave. Mehdizadehkashi previously ran Cheers just down the street at 2611 Pacific Ave. from 2011 to 2019 before selling the business in 2020. Now, he’s ready to bring it back.

“We’ve been there before,” Mehdizadehkashi told What Now Seattle. “It doesn’t take much to decide to go to Tacoma.”

He also operates two other Cheers locations in South Hill and University Place. He said the new Tacoma outpost will carry the same welcoming atmosphere and familiar menu.

Described on its website, “this is not your ordinary bar food,” Cheers serves appetizers, pizza, salad, wraps, sandwiches and burgers. Breakfast is available Saturday and Sunday starting at 8 a.m.

The drink list includes more than 20 beers on tap, and the restaurant regularly hosts live UFC fight night watch parties. Pool tables also add to the laid-back entertainment options.

Cheers Bar and Grill will officially open on September 15.
