Offering familiar flavors with a fresh twist, a new Indian restaurant is set to replace a previous spot in Downtown Seattle.

Clove Indian Cuisine, owned by Sam, Shawn and Gary Virk, will open this summer at 1103 1st Ave., taking over the former Mint Progressive Indian space, according to Puget Sound Business Journal.

This will be Clove’s second location, following its flagship at The Landing in Renton. The Virks are already planning a third outpost, set to open at Tacoma Mall in 2027.

The restaurant serves elevated yet authentic Indian fare, featuring specialty dishes with rice, vegetables, chicken, seafood, lamb and goat.

“The Clove team is dedicated to serving honest food inspired by traditional Indian recipes, local produce, and Ayurvedic principles, focusing on sustainability. This commitment sets Clove apart from its competitors and allows the restaurant to elevate Indian culture, traditions, and flavors,” the website reads.

Highlights include Butter Chicken, a creamy tomato-based curry, and Lamb Biryani, tender lamb cooked with aromatic basmati rice and spices. Grilled options like Tandoori Chicken and Tandoori Lamb Chops bring smoky, spiced flavors, while vegetarian dishes such as Ajwaini Paneer Tikka and Dal Makhni offer hearty, flavorful alternatives.

Desserts include Gulab Jamun, soft dough balls soaked in syrup and infused with cardamom and rosewater, and Malai Kulfi Falooda, a frozen treat of noodles, milk, ice cream and rose syrup, rounding out the menu.

Clove also offers a wide selection of wines and classic cocktails, including the Masala Chai Old Fashioned and The Concussion, made with gin, strawberry syrup, basil, balsamic vinegar and lime juice. Mocktails are available as well.

Clove Indian Cuisine has not announced official opening dates for its upcoming locations, but visit the restaurant’s website and follow along Instagram and Facebook for updates.
