The Historic Downtown Everett Theatre is ready for its next act, reopening in September after a summer remodel and ownership change.
Skyline Properties broker Johnny Phan bought the 124-year-old theater for $1.5 million on June 13, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal.
Before the sale closed, Phan told the outlet he formed the Historic Downtown Everett Theatre Foundation Corporation to operate the venue and “keep the integrity of the building.”
Renovations include new carpeting, fresh paint and an updated concession area.
Bell Bottom Blues, an Eric Clapton tribute band, will open the Historic Downtown Everett Theatre’s new season Sept. 12. The venue has performances booked through January 2026. Curtis Shriner, who previously operated the theater through the Historic Everett Theatre Preservation, plans to stay involved and help promote upcoming events.
“It feels great (to see the upgrades),” Curtis told the Business Journal. “This is the stuff I always wanted to do, just never had the money to do it while I was in charge of it. The fact that (Phan) can come in with an influx of money and do all the things that needed to be done is great.”
What Now Seattle reached out to the Phan, however, he has not yet responded. This article may be updated.
