Fogo de Chao, the renowned Brazilian steakhouse known for its racks of meat sliced tableside, is gearing up to open a new location at 400 University St, according to a permit recently filed with the city.

A representative of Fogo de Chao did not return a request for comment.

“At Fogo, we will continue our strategic growth plans in 2023 with leases and development agreements signed to open restaurants in new domestic and international markets,” CEO Barry McGowan said in a January statement published yesterday, Apr 10, by the Puget Sound Business Journal. “We are honored that the demand for our unique dining experience in both new and existing markets remains strong as we continue to grow our brand on a global scale.”

That growth includes a Lynnwood outpost that’s slated to open later this month, becoming the area’s second Fogo de Chao following its Bellevue debut in 2017.

While the opening date has yet to be confirmed, patrons can look forward to a well-known chain of Brazilian steakhouses that offers a unique and immersive dining experience. The concept originated in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1979, and has since expanded to multiple locations in the United States and around the world.
