A new restaurant is set to open in Seattle’s Ravenna neighborhood.

Mama Grande’s Cafe, owned by Alex Garcia, will open at 2300 NE 65th St. The cafe’s tagline, “Where every meal is made with love,” highlights its warm, homemade approach.

“I’ve been in this industry for over 40 years now. This is a dream that is becoming a reality. We want to make it really cozy, really welcoming. The idea is to make everybody feel like they’re at home,” Garcia told What Now Seattle. “The name is honoring my mother. In Mexico, all the kids and grandkids–we call our mom or grandmother ‘Mama Grandes.’”

The cafe will focus on breakfast and brunch specialties, with plans to serve beer, wine and mimosas. Garcia aims to add a full-service bar in the future.

“It’s not a diner, it’s going to be a little more upscale. The favorites are going to be eggs benedict, huevos rancheros, french toast, omelets and avocado toast. We’re going to have a great variety of dishes for everybody to enjoy,” he said.

Garcia said he is looking forward to welcoming customers soon.

“I’m very excited and just can’t wait to open the doors for the community and the customers to come in. I’m very excited to see their reaction. People who have walked by, they come in, they see the place. I see their faces and they are really happy to see something different than it was before,” he said.

Garcia said the team is awaiting final permits and inspections and will announce a grand opening date soon. For updates, visit the Mama Grande’s Cafe website and follow on Instagram and Facebook.
