New hospitality group, 4711 Group, has filed a permit to begin construction on Messina Bar & Restaurant at 23 Mercer Street taking over the corner where Racha Noodles & Thai Cuisine was previously housed. Racha moved down the street and continues on with their Thai & Asian style dishes.
4711 Group bills itself as “a touch of Vegas fused with the Pacific Northwest” and promises to converge “gaming, food, and hospitality” in its concepts, according to its website.
Jeff Liboon, listed in paperwork as an owner, describes Messina Bar & Restaurant as modern Italian. “We partnered with a popular restaurant group out of Southern California and are doing a Seattle twist,” Liboon told What Now Seattle Thursday. Messina’s namesake, known as the gateway to Sicily, is the third largest city on the Italian isle.
The space, which will be able to host upwards of 130 patrons, was ideal for Messina given its proximity to the stadium, and its value-add to the neighborhood, Liboon said.
The serial entrepreneur — founder of Turnt Gaming and MightyKidz Child Care — short of confirming the plans was mum’s the word on additional details regarding the upcoming eatery. Liboon did say that, although the Messina team are still putting the final touches on everything, they tentatively plan to open around late-summer or early-fall, 2023.
