Michelin-starred chef Johnny Spero is bringing his culinary vision to Whidbey Island with a new restaurant concept: Passage.
“I’ve been subtly (barely even that) dropping some hints about where I might have landed. I think the moss gave most of it away that I’m out in the PNW,” Chef Spero shared via Instagram.
A Maryland native, the chef is known for Washington, D.C.’s Reverie, a modern American restaurant, and Bar Spero, a seafood-focused concept. Reverie earned its first Michelin star in 2022, while Bar Spero was a James Beard finalist and has been featured in Esquire, Bon Appétit, and Robb Report, according to TheBestChef.
Now on the West Coast, Chef Spero will bring Passage to The Inn at Langley. The inn is undergoing renovations but is set to reopen this summer and is already accepting reservations.
“We’ve been shut down for the past few months while the inn gets a well-deserved refresh, and at the same time, we’ve been working on a lot behind the scenes. I’ll be leading the food program across the entire property, shaping everything from breakfast through dinner as we rethink the experience as a whole,” the post continued.
Passage will forge its “own identity” as a fine dining restaurant, showcasing cuisine inspired by the Pacific Northwest.
While an official opening date for Passage hasn’t been announced, Chef Spero said they are looking forward to opening “in the coming months.” Follow along on Instagram for the latest updates.
