Mintish Coffee House Bringing Levantine Flavors and Warmth to Capitol Hill This Summer

The new Capitol Hill cafe will offer spiced lattes and unique desserts like za'atar croissants and kunafa cheesecake.

Mintish Coffee House is set to open this summer in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Located at 515 Harvard Ave. E, the cafe will celebrate Levantine culture with vibrant regional colors, art and floral displays.

Owner Mahoud Farajallah and his partners, Abdullah and Nano, are launching their first brick-and-mortar venture with the new shop.

“I’m really excited to open a space for everyone to come and try different foods and open a space where people can feel at home,” Farajallah told What Now Seattle.

Farajallah, a former barista with a deep passion for coffee, sees Mintish as a full-circle moment in his journey.

“It’s like waking up to the aroma of mint in the morning and gathering with family over a warm cup of tea. It’s that sense of nostalgia, comfort and warm hospitality that we want to share with everyone that walks through our doors,” the shop shared in an Instagram post.

The coffee shop plans to specialize in spiced lattes, including a rose cardamom latte, a floral and subtly sweet drink with warm, citrusy notes from cardamom and the delicate fragrance of rose.

The food menu will include kunafa cheesecake, which is Farajallah’s favorite, along with Dubai chocolate cheese, pistachio cookies and a za’atar croissant. Kunafa cheesecake is a fusion dessert combining creamy cheesecake with a crispy shredded phyllo dough base, often soaked in a light sugar syrup. Za’atar, featured in the croissant, is a Middle Eastern blend of dried herbs and spices

“I think the most thing that would define us from other coffee shops is our menu, it’s a bit different,” Farajallah said. “I haven’t seen that in Seattle.”

While an exact opening date has yet to be determined, Mintish Coffee House is planning on debuting at the end of August.
