Mountain Mike’s Pizza, known for its “legendary taste,” is set to open in Vancouver this November. The new location at 14109 NE 10th Ave. will be owned and operated by franchisee Veronica Thind.
“They were looking for individuals to grow and I think their product is a great product. Everything’s made in-house. They really put quality above everything else,” Thind told What Now Seattle. “We got whole mozzarella cheese, fresh-cut veggies and fresh cut-dough dough in-house. Everything is fresh and I don’t think that’s something you see anymore.”
Founded in 1978 in Palo Alto, California, the pizza chain serves classic cheese and pepperoni pies alongside creatively themed specialty pizzas. Highlights on the menu include Pikes Peak, the Everest, Snowy Alps, Mt. Veggiemore and the McKinley. The shop also serves wings, salads, sandwiches and desserts, including churros, cinnamon dessert pizza and a pizza cookie—for those daring enough to conquer the slopes, according to the website.
“A mountain pizza is 20 inches and it has 20 slices. It feeds about six to eight people, so it’s always fun to see people’s reactions whenever I hand them over a mountain pizza,” Thind said. “I think out of all the pizza’s we have, Pike Peak’s been the most popular. It’s the all-meat pizza. It has six different types of meats on there and people just absolutely love it.”
Mountain Mike’s recently received approval for a liquor license from the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, according to business filings.
Thind is excited to introduce the pizza chain to the local community.
“We’re just looking to get involved and get out and about—getting involved with the fire station, police station, local schools, local businesses—just engaging with everyone around here and becoming a staple in the community,” she said.
Thind said expansion is definitely a possibility. Her brother owns and operates two locations in northern Washington and loves it, so it could be a natural next step.
Mountain Mike’s Pizza operates 300 locations across the western United States, including California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Texas, Colorado, Washington and Wisconsin.
