A local brewery that suffered from a fire last year is getting back on its feet in a new space.
Rooftop Brewing Company is taking over the space of Maritime Pacific Brewing, whose owners, George and Jane Hancock, are retiring. Maritime Pacific Brewing began in 1990, making it one of the oldest breweries in Seattle.
Both brands will remain at the space, with Rooftop Brewing Company taking over the lease at 1111 NW Ballard Way. They are currently waiting on new licensing from the county to resume operations and get their beers on tap there, Eater Seattle reports.
Jolly Roger Taproom, the taproom located at the Maritime Pacific Brewing space that serves a full food menu, will remain open. They are planning to add an outdoor patio.
Craig Christian is the owner of Rooftop Brewing, which was previously located at 220 W Nickerson Street. It was founded in 2012 and opened to the public in 2013. A fire last August caused significant damage to Rooftop’s brewhouse, event space and tasting room.
