The popular restaurant hub, Sea Creatures, is expanding with Lioness located at 7009 Greenwood Ave N., confirmed by Chef and Owner Renee Erickson.

The 400+ square foot space will soon be home to the area’s newest Italian cuisine-focused restaurant residing in Shared Roof, a new apartment complex currently in development. The business partners of Sea Creatures had no plans to expand further, but the limitations of the small space peaked their creativity and it was an opportunity they couldn’t resist.

There will be a counter bar with seating, about 14 seats with tables, and a weather-dependent patio with heaters that will add to the Italian ambiance. “The menu will probably be one oyster, meat and cheese, carpaccio, and two or three entrees. Very simple,” Erickson told What Now Seattle.

Private events will potentially be available on the roof’s deck at the apartment complex, and pre-ordering may come in the future. The plan is to keep that small, neighborhood vibe, however. “I’m a big fan of Italy. I’m a fan of simple, casual restaurants,” Erickson said of her time in Rome for school. That experience is the inspiration behind this charming expansion.

Sea Creatures has nine other eclectic concepts in operation around the Seattle area, including its bakery, General Porpoise, with two running locations currently. The bakery provides doughnuts “made with fresh eggs and are filled with seasonal jams, jellies, curds, custards, and creams,” according to their website.

Expected opening for Lioness is in Summer 2023 provided the development is completed with no delays.
