According to a recent permit filing, Seattle Social Cafe and Bar will soon open its doors in the Belltown area at 2619 1st Avenue.
“We don’t have a set goal opening date yet, as it will depend on a few factors,” Beau McKeon, the owner, told What Now Seattle, “We will be aiming to pay homage to the 40-year history of this building, previously being CJ’s, while introducing a fresh look and an array of enhanced menu options. This will include options for alternative diets, such as vegan options, and extending service hours into the afternoon and evening.”
The focal point of Seattle Social Cafe and Bar is to provide a gathering space that captures the essence of the neighborhood’s vibrant spirit. While breakfast has been a staple for Beau’s seven-year tenure running a cafe, the goal is to establish a reputation beyond just that.
Once the afternoon and evening roll around, the focus will be on the cocktail menu and shareable bites. The cafe and bar will also offer a brunch menu option. Behind the scenes, Beau expressed that meticulous research has been undertaken to ensure that each dish is a delightful and memorable experience.
The essence of Seattle’s character permeates the space, described as making it an ideal spot for catching up with friends, conducting meetings, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee. A unique concept drives the cafe’s design – eschewing the traditional waiting lobby for an express espresso bar. Baristas will not only craft beverages but also serve as hosts.
With a full-time baking staff, Seattle Social Cafe and Bar plans to ensure that its bakery and pastries are made from scratch. The commitment to sourcing locally was explicitly expressed by McKeon, as most of the food is farm-to-table. The bakery and cafe section greets guests upon entry, offering a fresh, in-house-made menu of options to enjoy whether you’re waiting for a seat or just lounging with friends.
