While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, Spruce Hill’s website states they will be opening their doors sometime in the fall of this year. They describe themselves as taking pride in showcasing the best that Washington State has to offer, by producing small-batch wines that embody the essence of the Northwest: approachable, honest, and friendly.
Spruce Hill’s winemaking philosophy centers around the idea of encapsulating the heart and soul of the Pacific Northwest in every bottle. From the first sip to the last drop, they want their wines to transport you to this region, allowing you to experience its terroir, history, and spirit. Whether you’re a seasoned wine connoisseur or just beginning to explore the world of wine, Spruce Hill Winery warmly welcomes you.
Mark Bader, the owner and winemaker, journeyed into winemaking as a testament to the fusion of science, art, and passion. By day, he thrived in the high-tech world, while by night, he strummed his bass guitar, immersing himself in Seattle’s vibrant music scene. However, it was during his wine-tasting escapades across the globe that he discovered winemaking as the perfect synthesis of his passions.
Starting humbly, Mark began crafting his first vintages in his own garage. Despite encountering a few mishaps and less-than-perfect batches along the way, Mark’s thirst for knowledge led him to enroll in the Northwest Wine Academy, where he studied commercial winemaking and honed his skills.
