A new destination for kids and coffee lovers is taking shape in Tacoma’s Stadium District, as Sunrise Play Cafe prepares for a fall 2025 debut.

“After many months of hard work, location scouting to find the right place to call home, we are excited to announce our official home at 204 St. Helens Ave., Tacoma, WA.,” the shop shared via Instagram.

The cafe, co-owned by Susan Saccone and Jordan Zenisek, blends a modern coffee shop experience with a dedicated play space for young children.

Sunrise is partnering with Kerriston Coffee as its roaster and plans to serve organic, locally sourced snacks, craft beer and mimosas. The drinks are described as “for those moments when you’ve really earned it.”

The play area is designed for children ages 0 to 6 and will feature soft, high-end structures for climbing and sliding, along with a multi-zone layout supporting physical activity and social development.

The space will have minimal blind spots so parents and caregivers can relax while keeping an eye on their children.

“Tacoma’s growing community of young families inspired us to create a space where children and parents alike feel welcomed, supported, and energized,” its website reads.

In addition to its cafe and play space, Sunrise plans to host family-friendly events, intergenerational workshops, support groups and birthday celebrations.

Construction and design are still underway, but the owners encourage families to sign up for the cafe’s newsletter for pre-opening invitations, updates and behind-the-scenes content.

What Now Seattle reached out to the Sunrise Play Cafe, however they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.
