A popular taco joint is expanding in Tacoma with a second location. What Now Seattle previously reported the expansion, and new details have now emerged.

Executive chef Elonka Perez, who owns and operates Taco Street, plans to open a second location inside the Tacoma Mall food court in fall 2025, according to an Instagram post.

“We know you’ve heard the rumors. And now we’re here to tell you it’s true! Tacoma Mall’s new flavor fix–Taco Street is moving in and bringing our street style tacos and flavor made by real taqueros, served with Aguas Locas y puro sabor,” the post read.

The shop is family-owned and locally operated, beginning as a food cart before expanding into brick-and-mortar locations.

Taco Street’s most popular item is the Taco Street Special, which includes four street tacos with a choice of meat, served with rice and beans. The restaurant also offers a Taco Tuesday deal featuring five street-style tacos made with a rotating meat of the day, announced weekly on its social media pages.

Other standout options include the California Burrito, which is filled with carne asada, guacamole, potatoes, rice, beans, pico de gallo, cheese and sour cream, and the El Monstruo Burrito, a two-pound option packed with meat, rice, beans and toppings.

The menu also includes a selection of beer and soda along with homemade Horchata, Agua Frescas and Agua Locas.

It’s unclear if the new outpost will keep the same hours, but the original Tacoma location at 5101 Yacht Club Rd. is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Taco Street joins a growing list of restaurants expected to debut in the mall, including Shake Shack, Dave’s Hot Chicken, Supreme Dumplings and Simply Thai.

What Now Seattle reached out to Taco Street regarding the expansion, however they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.
