According to a recent permit filing, The Wayland Mill aims to debut in Northlake at 3800 Latona Avenue NE #112.
The Wayland Mill, a new cafe & bistro, plans to debut sometime this spring. The concept is described as “Yoshoku Americana,” meaning “how the Wayland Mill does yoshoku, honoring regional food culture with Midwestern hospitality and sensibility.”
A pitch deck from The Wayland Mill’s website tells us more: “And different is what Wayland Mill aims to be. We want to bring a new way of enjoying Japanese & Pacific Northwest ingredients, lovingly prepared in a Western-style, to Seattle’s Northlake neighborhood.”
“We will do this by honoring the simple art of hospitality and the spirit of service to share our food, ideas, and space with the community we have, and have yet to meet. Our name pays homage to the cedar shingle mill that once operated across the street along the water’s edge of Lake Union.”
“We want to be a part of our guest’s everyday lives, whether that be a coffee to start the day, a bit of fuel for a bike ride, or a moment of respite after a long week. We meld the nature of cafes & bistros as third places and community hubs with the dynamic urban lifestyles of the Puget Sound region.”
