With a half dozen locations currently in operation, Sarasota’s Food + Beer is continuing to build on the age-old combination it’s named after. A sixth location will open before the end of the year in Ellenton, at 2207 60th Avenue, owner Mike Whalen told What Now on Wednesday.

“We’re looking at December 2025,” Whalen said. “We haven’t quite started on construction yet.”

The new Food + Beer location will offer the same proven menu available at all the brand’s restaurants. There are burgers like the ‘Merica (tobacco fried onions, Memphis BBQ, cheddar, bacon, blackening seasoning) and other handhelds like the Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese, the Cubano, and That Jawn! (a cheesesteak: shaved ribeye, house yellow whiz, caramelized onions, garlic amaroso roll).

The new restaurant, which Whalen says will be the brand’s eighth, will feature a covered patio and a total of about 150 seats. “It’s going to have an inside-outside bar, too,” Whalen added. The new Food + Beer is replacing the now-shuttered Peach’s Restaurant that used to occupy the space at 2207 60th Avenue.

As we await this upcoming location, it’s always a good idea to stop into one of Food + Beer’s other locations. You can check out $6.99 Cheeseburger Mondays, brunch on the weekends, and Trivia on Wednesday. Food + Beer is open until 1 a.m. on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends.
